Access for In-Person and Virtual Participation

The IUCN Africa Protected Area Congress (APAC) will take place between the 18th and 23rd July 2022 and the main focus for participation will be “face-to-face”.  However, given the global challenges we are confronted with, including the Covid19 pandemic and the resultant disruption in mobility – parts of the Congress will be available online and live streamed. The following is planned for:

1. “Face To Face” participation for all Congress elements:

including pre-congress workshops (16th, 17th July), the high-level plenary opening (18th July), the opening sessions for the 3 streams (20th July), the 18 cross-cutting thematic workshops (21st, 22nd July), and the final plenary sessions (23rd July). In addition, all side events will be “face-to-face” together with the exhibition stands and pavilions. There is a registration fee that will allow you to have access to the whole “face-to-face” congress.

2. Online access is planned for certain Congress elements:

including the high-level plenary opening (18th July), Opening sessions for the 3 streams (20th July), one each of the cross-cutting thematic workshops (21st, 22nd July), and the final closing plenary sessions (23rd July). Online access and live streaming will be available in several platforms (to be announced). In some cases, participants will be able to submit questions or comments to panels through the “chat-box”.  But it will be up to the moderator/chair to manage such questions and comments into the debate. There is a registration fee to participate and have access to the live-streamed elements of the congress. But, on-line participants will not be able to access sessions through live-voice, although they can see and hear the whole session through live-streaming. An agenda for the online live-streaming part of the Congress will be available together with the Congress program.

If there are any questions related to this, please to contact the APAC organizers, through registration@apacongress.africa
